Mobile Dewatering Units

A mobile dewatering unit is a complete sludge-to-cake package in one container — decanter centrifuge, polymer make-up and dosing skid, feed pump, controls, and cake discharge, ready to be craned in and running on the same shift. Ideal for drilling waste campaigns, industrial upsets and municipal peak-load projects.

Paragon configures dewatering units around the actual sludge — thin activated sludge, oily slop, drilling fines, mining tailings — with the right centrifuge sizing, polymer chemistry and cake handling.

How it works

  1. 1Sludge is drawn from a holding tank by a positive-displacement feed pump and dosed with polymer in-line via a static mixer.
  2. 2Flocculated feed enters a decanter centrifuge where high G-force separates dewatered cake from clarified centrate.
  3. 3Cake discharges into a skip, screw conveyor or trailer; centrate returns to the plant inlet or is discharged per permit.
  4. 4The polymer make-up skid prepares fresh polymer solution on demand, correctly aged and dosed for the current sludge condition.

Selection factors

Size against actual sludge, not nameplate

Vendor throughput assumes ideal feed. Real municipal WAS at 0.6% DS behaves nothing like industrial sludge at 4% DS. Insist on a jar test or pilot trial before committing to package size.

Polymer make-up is half the performance

Under-aged polymer, wrong concentration or wrong chemistry can halve cake dryness on the same centrifuge. Include a properly sized and ventilated make-up skid — not a bucket-and-mixer improvisation.

Cake handling matters at 3 AM

The cake has to go somewhere. Plan skip changeouts, conveyor lengths and haulage cycles before mobilisation. A dewatering unit that has to stop every hour to swap skips will never make its throughput target.

FIELD TIP

The single biggest lever on a mobile dewatering unit is polymer conditioning. Same centrifuge, right polymer at right dose, cake dryness can jump five percentage points overnight.
